Neighbors Helping Neighbors
Through longstanding local partnerships, we support women and children in shelters, veterans, people with disabilities, formerly homeless residents, and homebound or frail elderly neighbors.
Who we help
Our work includes meals, household essentials, books and school supplies, clothing and holiday gifts.
The program gives neighbors opportunities to contribute and volunteer, extending the care of this community beyond the blocks immediately surrounding the Park.
Helping children take part
Through Project LIFT, we have connected children with arts education: scholarships, mentoring, books, backpacks, clothing, laptops for remote learning and tickets to performances.
In 2023, we helped provide a full scholarship for a child’s first year at New York Theatre Ballet School. Read about our scholarship and mentoring work.
Project Cicero collects books for students in under-resourced schools. In 2016 we helped neighbors take part in a collection organized by the Brotherhood Synagogue’s Social Action Committee.
Food and household essentials
We have contributed food-pantry supplies to St. George’s Common Table. Our work with Kenmore Hall has included pantry and household supplies, holiday meals and a veterans’ luncheon in November 2024.
Our partners run these services; we contribute supplies and connect neighbors with their established programs.
Holiday giving
Our holiday collections have provided toys, clothing and gifts for children and families through local shelters and other partner organizations.

A 2008 neighborhood house tour raised funds for homebound neighbors. In 2017, Daily Provisions contributed food to the program.
