Supporting St. George’s Common Table

The Gramercy Park Block Association supports St. George’s Common Table through pantry drives and neighborhood contributions.

In April 2016, the Block Association organized a pantry drive for the program. Its letter introduced coordinator Doug Perry and fellow volunteers, and described a weekly hot-meal service then reaching about 125 people.

The request was specific: pasta, rice, beans, lentils, canned tomatoes, cooking oil and other kitchen staples. Giving neighbors a clear list made it easier to contribute something the program could use.

An April 26 follow-up thanked neighbors and reported that the pantry drive had been a success.

Common Table is part of Neighbors Helping Neighbors.
