Assessment and recovery

An August 6, 2020 update recorded Kathleen Scupp and Amando Flores reviewing damage from Tropical Storm Isaias with Bartlett Tree Experts. A magnolia near the shed and the damaged standing portion of an ash were assessed for removal; a fallen fringe tree was to be cut back in the hope of recovery. The assessment also identified damage to a bench and planting beneath the ash.

A December 2020 Park report thanked Operations Manager Kathleen Scupp and gardener Amando Flores for sustaining care through the pandemic and Tropical Storm Isaias. It described assessing fallen trees, removing debris and dealing with damage.

2021

Another season, another storm

The Gramercy Park Block Association’s August 23, 2021 letter opened with thanks to Amando for seeing the Park through Tropical Storm Henri. It recognized his more than twenty-five years of service.

These accounts belong to the Trustees’ stewardship inside the Park. Their place in the neighborhood archive is alongside the replacement trees after Sandy, the arborists’ recurring inspections and Amando’s own account of his work.
