When Jonah Gold’s grandfather asked Arlene Harrison about a visit to the police, the Block Association’s longstanding precinct relationship helped make it happen. His grandfather, Michael Osheowitz, chaired the Edwin Gould Foundation for Children and served on the Gramercy Park Block Association’s advisory board.
Harrison arranged for the eight-year-old to spend time with officers at the 13th Precinct and Emergency Service Unit Truck 1.
The visit lasted about two hours. The contemporary report and photographs show Jonah meeting officers, receiving a police hat and seeing emergency-service equipment.
Town & Village reported the visit on September 1, 2005, describing it as having taken place the previous week.
