In October 2002, the Block Association presented its first Woman of the Year award to Susan J. Sutherland at Eleven Madison Park. Town & Village’s October 24 account recognized her work for the Block Association’s causes and her dedication to her family.

Sutherland was identified as an attorney and partner at Skadden, Arps. Arlene Harrison presented the award, a framed photograph of Sutherland’s daughter. The surviving record includes the newspaper photograph and a color image from the gathering.
