In June 2016, the Gramercy Park Block Association remembered Bill Cunningham and his frequent visits to photograph Gramercy Park. The newsletter paired the remembrance with a photograph credited to Sean Brady.
The account pointed readers to Cunningham’s December 2015 New York Times video featuring Park caretaker Amando Flores and Desmond Fraser. It connected a widely known photographer with the people who helped create the neighborhood scenes he observed.
The remembrance adds another perspective to the Block Association’s collection of neighborhood photographs: attention to the people at work, as well as the buildings and landscape around them.
