Improving the Park’s irrigation

In his 2016 interview, caretaker Amando Flores recalled the earlier practice of watering the Park by hand. He described irrigation among the systems introduced as the landscape and his responsibilities developed.

The 2018 upgrade

A February 2018 update reported trenches dug, water lines replaced, increased pressure and redirected spigots. It was a compact notice of the infrastructure work behind the visible planting.

The Trustees also reported shutting down the irrigation system before freezing weather.

2020

Checking the system before spring watering

The April 16, 2020 Trustees update described Bulfamante Landscaping restarting the irrigation system, checking its heads and testing the lines. Repairs included damage attributed to squirrels. Sidewalk washing was also due to resume.

The short report makes visible the routine work after an installation: finding problems, repairing them and bringing the system back into use for another growing season.
