The Gramercy Park Block Association’s September 2014 retrospective looked back at family holiday gatherings held the previous December. The 13th Precinct’s December 7, 2013 party took place at Epiphany’s Msgr. Farricker Hall. The account also recorded a December 15 gathering for Emergency Service Unit families, organized through a neighborhood partnership.
The tradition in 2024
A December 15, 2024 newsletter reported that the Block Association had joined Manhattan Borough South and the 13th Precinct at their annual family holiday party. The letter shared a photograph of the gathering and a larger event gallery, with children, family members and a visit from Santa.
Holiday celebrations sit alongside meals for first responders, remembrance gatherings and practical assistance during emergencies. These photographs preserve completed events in that longer relationship.
2004
An outing beyond the holiday party
The 2004 activities list includes circus tickets for children of NYPD officers, invited as the Block Association’s guests. The invitation offered police families another way to take part in the neighborhood’s cultural life.
