Maialino’s proposed return at 67 Irving Place

Maialino opened at the Gramercy Park Hotel in 2009 and closed in March 2020. The Gramercy Park Block Association’s November 2025 letter recalled the restaurant as a place for morning coffee, family celebrations and conversations among neighbors. Its absence remained a frequent subject of questions to the Block Association.

The November 2025 announcement

The letter announced that Danny Meyer and his team had found a new location at 67 Irving Place, in the former Bedford Cheese Shop space. The building was undergoing an office-to-residential conversion, and the restaurant’s design work was beginning.

The November 2025 announcement anticipated a 2027 opening and the return of chef Joe Downey-Zayas.

This planned restaurant location is separate from the restoration of the Gramercy Park Hotel. Earlier letters had discussed hopes for the Hotel and Maialino together; the November announcement gave the restaurant a different intended address.
