In December 2021, the Gramercy Park Block Association described its work with homeless-service agencies and local police to seek help for unhoused people in the neighborhood. The letter acknowledged residents’ concerns while emphasizing compassion for people facing difficult circumstances.
The Block Association shared the Flatiron/23rd Street Partnership’s Services in Times of Need pocket guide, which brought together information about food, showers, clothing, shelter and other assistance. It also highlighted Urban Pathways as part of the service network.
The value of the letter lay in connecting a concern on the street with organizations equipped to respond.
The outreach sits alongside the Block Association’s longstanding support for Kenmore Hall, Nazareth Housing and other community partners. Those relationships give the Block Association ways to connect neighbors’ generosity with practical needs.
