The National Arts Club presented the sundial to Gramercy Park on May 24, 1958. In August 2017, the Trustees announced its removal by Gabriel Popian for restoration, funded by the club. Its base had become buried beneath accumulated gravel.
The announcement records the start of conservation, without establishing a completion date.
