Flowers for neighborhood workers and institutions

In August 2013, the Gramercy Park Block Association shared a report about a Fresh Direct donation of more than one hundred bouquets. The Block Association helped distribute the flowers through the neighborhood’s network of institutions, workers and first responders.

The recipients included Calvary–St. George’s and the Church of the Epiphany, whose work encompassed schools, meal programs and a food pantry. Building workers, 13th Precinct officers and Emergency Service Truck 1 detectives also received flowers.

Some bouquets were placed in the World Trade Center Memorial Garden outside the 13th Precinct. Others reached people whose connection with the Block Association had developed through earlier relief work.

From a meal program to a building’s staff, the people who care for a neighborhood are connected in ways that are not always visible. This earlier project offers one glimpse of that network.

One hundred and fifty bouquets

A July 18 report recorded a separate delivery of 150 bouquets to 13th Precinct officers, Emergency Service Truck 1 detectives and staff. Fresh Direct donated the flowers. The report thanked the recipients for their year-round service to the neighborhood.
