In late 2017, the Trustees announced a Norway spruce for the Park and described the Boag family’s involvement over more than forty years. The December report showed Mike Boag and his nursery crew installing the tree with help from caretaker Amando Flores.
The tree’s useful life did not end with the holidays. A January 2017 account followed the previous tree’s branches onto the four flower beds, where they protected bulbs. Its trunk became mulch around other plantings. A seasonal centerpiece had become part of the next season’s care.
