Children meet the performers
A December 26, 2002 report records neighborhood children attending New York Theatre Ballet’s Nutcracker at Florence Gould Hall through the Gramercy Park Block Association’s annual Children’s Festive Ballet tradition. The accompanying photograph shows children meeting the dancers.
2005
The invitation reaches officers’ families
On December 11, 2005, the Block Association invited neighborhood children and the children of 13th Precinct Emergency Service Truck 1 and Detective Squad personnel to the company’s Nutcracker. The December 22 follow-up confirmed the outing.
New York Theatre Ballet produced the performances. The Block Association connected families with them, alongside its longstanding support for Project LIFT and educational opportunity.
2009
An invitation supporting the company’s anniversary
The archive also preserves an invitation to New York Theatre Ballet’s thirtieth-anniversary opening-night reception on April 17, 2009. It advertised a gala and performance benefiting LIFT, with Dance/Speak: The Life of Agnes de Mille among the company’s programming.
The invitation records the announced benefit, without an attendance or fundraising total.
