The Cabrini Medical Center art auction

Cabrini Medical Center’s second annual art auction took place on October 9, 2003, at the International Toy Center on Fifth Avenue. More than two hundred people attended, according to the following week’s Town & Village report.

Thirty-seven artists contributed work. Proceeds were to be shared between the artists and the hospital, which planned to use its portion toward renovating and modernizing an operating room. The report had not yet established a final fundraising total.

Arlene Harrison attended Cabrini’s fundraiser with other Gramercy neighbors and hospital representatives.

The prior year’s event had been held at the National Arts Club. The 2003 auction moved to the International Toy Center because of scheduling conflicts, preserving a connection between art, a local institution and the people supporting it.
