A Season of Work & Care
In the Park & Around the Neighborhood
Dear Neighbors,
As spring turns to summer, we wanted to share a look at some of the work that has been going on in and around Gramercy Park these past months — much of it the quiet, everyday kind that’s easy to walk right past.
Inside the fence, the Park’s caretaking team has had a full season. The historic East and West gates have been restored, the Ruggles Fountain brought back to working order, tired benches repaired and repainted, and the gardener’s cottage powerwashed, repainted, and set with fresh window boxes. With the spring cleanup behind us, the beds, tree gardens, and urns are once again in full bloom.
Beyond the fence, our Block Association’s Clean Team has kept the surrounding blocks looking their best — repairing and repainting the iron tree-garden fences, mending litter receptacles, and clearing graffiti from the lampposts, signposts, and parking meters up and down the neighborhood.
None of this happens on its own. Our deepest thanks go to the GPBA Clean Team and to the Park’s caretaking team, whose pride and steady hard work keep this corner of the city as lovely and as special as it is.
