Construction Update
Responses to concerns raised by our neighbors

Dear Neighbors,
Thank you to everyone who has been keeping us informed about conditions at 38 Gramercy Park. Your emails and photographs help us bring specific concerns to the development team and press for answers.
Like many of you, I am living with construction just outside my home, and I know how wearing the noise and disruption can be.
Today, the developer responded to two issues raised by our neighbors.
Late concrete pours and advance notice
Following concerns about concrete pours running late, we asked for advance notice so neighbors can plan around the disruption.
The developer explained that the timing and length of pours depend on weather, inspections, site conditions and concrete availability. The developer is reluctant to circulate a schedule that may change, but says it will make an effort to provide advance notice of particularly disruptive work or extended hours when practical.
The developer hopes to complete the bulk of its heavy concrete operations toward the end of November, provided conditions allow. That remains an estimate, rather than a confirmed completion date.
Water leaks and hydrant use
Neighbors also reported recurring leaks around the hydrant used by the site, including water coming through the sidewalk.
The developer says the site expects to switch to permanent water service in the coming weeks. The hydrant may still be used occasionally, but it will no longer be the site’s primary water source.
According to the developer, the leak appears to originate in underground piping belonging to the NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), rather than the site’s connection. The developer says it has submitted multiple requests and complaints and will continue pressing DEP for repairs, even after the switch to permanent service. No repair date has been provided.
Please keep us informed
We appreciate our neighbors taking the time to flag these issues. Please continue to email me at harrisongramercypark@gmail.com with the location, date and time, and photographs when helpful.
The GPBA will continue raising your concerns, following up with the development team and sharing updates. Thank you for looking out for one another and for our neighborhood. As the photograph above makes clear, we are all in this together.
Warmest regards,
Arlene Harrison
