GPBA Neighbors Helping Neighbors donates to neighbors in need

Thanks to our neighbors on Gramercy Park, The Gramercy Park Block Association Neighbors Helping Neighbors recently donated clothing, educational supplies, and furniture to Calvary-St. George's programs to benefit those in need. The success of the project was due in large part to our neighbor Claudia Mayer, who is a major contributor to many of our Neighbors Helping Neighbors efforts.
The GPBA has enjoyed a longstanding partnership with Calvary-St. George's on many of our Neighbors Helping Neighbors community service projects. Each year the GPBA sends dozens of volunteers to Calvary-St. George's to help serve Thanksgiving dinner to over 300 people in need. Among the many relief efforts where Calvary-St. George's parish house served as a depot for the community's donated supplies are the following:
Hurricane Sandy relief effort working with the NYPD, donated critical emergency supplies to devastated areas and rebuilt homes
Hurricane Katrina relief effort donated clothing and emergencies supplies, rebuilt schools and homes, airlifted 300 children with cancer to St. Jude's Hospital
World Trade Center relief effort provided 8 1/2 month round-the-clock meals, shelter, critical supplies to local first responders working at Ground Zero
