Christmas Tree Arrives in Gramercy Park 

In keeping with what has now become a 38-year tradition on Gramercy Park, the Christmas tree, a 40-foot Norwegian spruce, was delivered to the Park today, December 4th.

Once again the tree was provided and installed by the Boag family of Seaside Park, New Jersey. Park Trustees Tom Pike and Arlene Harrison and Trustees Project Manager Kathleen Scupp welcomed Mike Boag and his nursery workers to the Park. Park caretaker Amando Flores then assisted in the installation of the tree, which came from Wildflower Meadow Farm in Pittstown, New Jersey.  According to Boag, "This particular tree was chosen because it had overgrown the fields where it was planted, and removing it enabled the farm to plant new crops for future propagation."  Energy efficient LED lights were then added to the Park tree.    

"This marks the beginning of the holiday season and we appreciate the fact that the Boag family always looks for a tree that can no longer continue to grow in its present location," said James Clark, Chairman of the Trustees.   

"In a few days, we will be placing the menorah in the Park and we are looking forward to that," Clark added. "The Trustees are very pleased to sponsor both The Brotherhood Synagogue's Menorah Lighting Ceremony and Christmas Eve Caroling."
