Why should I become a member of the Gramercy Park Block Association?

We are the only neighborhood organization whose focus is on issues that directly affect Gramercy Park area residents.

• We are the only neighborhood organization whose By-Laws specify that all members of its Board of Directors must live on Gramercy Park .

• We are the only neighborhood organization with a 50 member Advisory Board all of whom live and/or work on Gramercy Park .

• We are the only neighborhood organization with an information network of residents, board presidents, owners and institution heads representing buildings from 17 th Street to 23 rd Street from Park Avenue South to Second Avenue to address critical neighborhood issues.

• We are the only neighborhood organization with a communication and crime alert system linking a number of buildings directly to the police in the event of crime, fire, medical, or other emergencies.

• We are the only neighborhood organization with a crisis team made up of Gramercy Park residents who work with the NYPD to assist our neighbors during emergencies.

• We are the only neighborhood organization that has an e-mail and fax system to communicate immediately with area residents about issues that are of concern to them.

• We are the only neighborhood organization that has regular meetings with building superintendents, residents, police officers, sanitation workers and storekeepers to address neighborhood issues and report them, if necessary, to the proper authorities.   

Your membership shows support for the work we do.   We are neighbors helping neighbors, and we have demonstrated that when we work together, we can make a difference.   The more members we have, the louder our voice, the greater our impact.
